Curriculum: The school district’s curriculum aligns
with national art standards with a particular focus on applying art concepts to
expressed personal emotions and societal ideas informed by contemporary and
historical artists and artworks.
1 High school with 711 Students. (Total in district is 10 schools with
- Mr. Hanky has been an art teacher for 10
years and strongly promotes technical accuracy within painting and
drawing. He is also in charge
of the painting and drawing classes here. He believes that students should reflect art history in
their work, from ancient Greece to the present; without this students will
not create interesting pieces of artwork. (ps- he has a British accent).
- Miss Issippi is 62 years old and has been an art
teacher for 37 years. She
graduated Alfred University with her MFA degree in Ceramics. She is head of the Art Department
at the high school. She often
attends craft fairs as a seller and demonstrates pottery at selected art
- Mrs. Poppy has been a teacher for 20 years and
teaches sculpture along with textiles, although her true love is
performance art. She believes
the female body IS a work of art.
Mrs. Poppy is currently working on relating the feminine with
aspects of nature and the environment within the performance art world.
- Mr. Cocky is a recent graduate of college and
has been in this school for 2 years now. His ideas for classroom activities are often classified
as “different”. Some may even
say his philosophy is over-zealous or arrogant. Artist that influence him are Matthew Barney, Gerhart
Richter, and Edward Kienholz.
